  1. Very interested to see a photo of Osborne House where my ancestors lived in 1871. I’d be grateful if you could help me to locate exactly where it was/is. The 1871 Census lists in successive order: Esplanade, Customs House, York House, Esplanade House, Dirdoe House, Osborne House , Claremont House, Fair View House, Beach Terrace.

    1. Hello George,

Osborne House is on the corner of Cross Street looking north towards College Street . I have put a couple of images of this property , I photographed today, on this page.
Should you have any more information about this property and are willing to share it with us we would be grateful.
      Thanks for your interest.

      1. Hello John

Thank you so much for this. Very happy to share information. It’s probably easiest if you give me an e-mail address so I can send attachments e.g. a copy of the Census. I can certainly share information about the families around then e.g. the Gillings were Methodists. It would also be good if you, or someone else, is knowledgeable about local history in the 19th century, including nearby places such as Berrow and Mark.

        George
